Thomas Backward was born in Claremore, Oklahoma on August 8th, 1951 to father Lacy Backward of Salina, Oklahoma, and mother, Ada England of Stillwell, Oklahoma. He passed away at the age of 69 on January 11th, 2021 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He worked in Tulsa as a general laborer and delivery driver through the years up until he became disabled. He loved his Sooners and a cold Budweiser. He enjoyed driving through the country, swimming at the Blue Hole, catching crawdads, and digging wild onions. He loved to joke and laugh and reminisce about friends and family in Cherokee with his mom and brother Jerry.
He is survived by two sons, Daniel Mahee of Tulsa, and Dexter Backward of Cushing; daughter, Adrian Serrano of Tulsa; sister, Kelly Chancellor of Salina; ex-wife Donna Jacobs; five grandsons; one great-grandson; and two nieces.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles McClain, Jerry Backward, and Les Dino Backward; and sisters, Phyllis Downing, Katherine McClain, and Shirley Cox.
