John L. Lafferty, 81, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on July 15, 2020. He was born on May 10, 1939, in Coweta, Oklahoma to parents Edgar Lafferty and Helen (Stover) Mitts.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Randy Lafferty; sisters Mildred Danzik and Brenda Wattingly; brothers Stewart Lafferty, Richard Lafferty, Jim Hill, and Ray Hill.
John enjoyed rebuilding cars and engines, so he was known as Mr. Fixit. He loved spending time with his family and talking about all their family adventures and enjoyed taking his son out in the RV when he was just a little boy.
John attended Central High School in Tulsa and graduated in 1958. He served as a US Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis for four years. He married his wife Louise of 60 years on April 21. 1060. He was a member of the IBEW (International Brotherhood 584 E) and, was also a member of Faith United Methodist Church for over 15 years.
John never met a stranger. He earned the nickname “Smiley” because he always had a smile on his face. He was loved by everyone and will be missed deeply.
He is survived by his wife Louise; daughter Shari Buckley and husband Jamie of Tulsa, OK; grandchildren Collin Buckley and wife Aly of Mobile, AL, Corey Buckley of Tulsa, OK and Caitlyn Buckley of Oklahoma City, OK; sisters Regina Dudley and husband of Oklahoma City, OK, Janie Richards and Carolyn Stebbins and husband Harold of Oilton, OK; brother Albert Lewis of Oilton, OK; and a host of nieces and nephews also survive him.
