James Jerome (Jim) Feeney was born in Beech Grove, Indiana on July 19, 1955, to James Joseph and Anne Feeney. He departed this life in Tulsa, OK October 31, 2020, at the age of 65. Jim loved Halloween, so if he had to leave us, at least it was on his favorite holiday!
Jim graduated from Southport High School in Indianapolis, IN in 1973, and moved to Tulsa shortly thereafter where he attended, and later graduated from Spartan School of Aeronautics. Jim had his own service and construction company and enjoyed the work he did for his many residential customers, as well as commercial customers like Tulsa University, and his church, Boston Avenue United Methodist. He also was honored to work on the memorial for the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City.
Jim was a true entrepreneur, even at the age of 12 when he subcontracted neighborhood kids to mow lawns while he drove around on his riding lawnmower checking on their progress. He was naturally curious about how things worked and could fix just about anything. The amount of knowledge he had was truly mindboggling. Fortunately for the rest of us, he was generous about sharing that knowledge.
Jim never met a stranger. He loved his family and many friends, and everyone loved him. He was funny and kind and always willing to help others. His faith was strong, and he kept a positive attitude, no matter what life threw at him. In fact, he wanted to create devices/equipment to make life easier for those who were injured or disabled. He made many happy memories over the course of his life and always had a good story to tell. He loved being near the water, and of course his tools, equipment, and flashlights!
Jim was preceded in death by his father in 2014. He is survived by his fiancé, Linda Dame, his daughter Carly Napier, her husband Shaun, and their twin daughters, as well as his son, James Justin Feeney, and a multitude of friends, colleagues, and clients in the Tulsa area. His mother, Anne Feeney; sisters Linda Younger (husband Paul) and Lori Crawford (husband Bill); and brother David Feeney all live in the Indianapolis area. His brother John Feeney (wife Sally) lives near Memphis. He is also survived by 10 nieces and nephews and many cousins and friends who are like family.
Due to the COVID pandemic, we will have a small, family-only memorial service in Indiana on November 12th. When COVID guidelines relax a bit, we will have a life celebration for Jim in Oklahoma.
