Donald G. Guthrie, 76, passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early morning of February 15, 2020 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born August 31, 1943 in Jenks, Oklahoma to Benjamin and Jenny Guthrie.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Charles Guthrie and Fred Guthrie Sr.
Don graduated from Jenks High School in 1961. Shortly after graduating high school, Don married his loving wife, Eddie Holliday in October of 1963. In August of 1966, Don and Eddie had their first child, Dwain Guthrie. In August of 1975, Don and Eddie welcomed their second son, Sheldon Guthrie. Don worked for Nelson Electric and Flight Safety International as a Production Planner. Don obtained a small pilots license. Don and Eddie often took regional flight trips in a small plane that Don piloted, leaving from Jones Riverside Airport in Jenks. Don loved to travel with his wife, Eddie. When Dwain was just 10, Don and Eddie spent 30 days in Europe for vacation. They often travelled, taking trips to Spain, Northern Africa, Mexico, the Caribbean Islands and all throughout the United States. During Summer weekends, they spent most of their time in their family cabin on Grand Lake. Don had a love for Jenks Trojan Football. For the last 26 years, Don and Eddie have resided in Tulsa where they moved to from Jenks, Oklahoma.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Eddie Guthrie of the home; two sons, Dwain Guthrie and wife Traci of Grapevine, Texas and Sheldon Guthrie of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one grandson, Nicholas Guthrie; one granddaughter, Cooper Guthrie; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive him.
A visitation will be held, Tuesday, February 18, 2020 from 9 am until 5 pm at Heath-Griffith Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held, Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at 11 am at Parkview Baptist Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma with Pastor Steve Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Haven Memorial Gardens.
