Arron Umsted “Sonny” Braswell aka Coach gained his wings peacefully on November 30th, 2020 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on September 28th, 1948 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to parents George and Phoebe Braswell.
He married the love of his life Louella Wisdom on June 6th, 1970. They made their home here in Tulsa and they were blessed with three beautiful children.
For 25 years he worked as a mechanic, he also worked for Millcreek Lumber where he later retired. He Coached his sons, daughters, and grandson’s baseball teams, the groups were called “The Say Ladies” and the “Say Heys” leading them all too many many championships. They all referred to him as "coach", and he was so proud of all of them. He was called by the Lord to become a minister of the gospel in 2000. He was a Faithful man of god and attended Springdale Baptist Church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his wife Louella Faye Braswell; son Adrian Braswell; brother Ed Braswell; and parents George and Phoebe.
He is survived by his daughters, Arlena Braswell of the home, Alicia Braswell of Tulsa, OK, and Rhonda Vinson of Missouri; three grandchildren Aden Braswell, Ace Braswell, and Addli Faye Braswell all of Tulsa, OK; sister Denise Taylor and husband David of Tahlequah, OK; two half-sisters Norma Egbert of Edmond, OK, and Pat Good of Billings, Montana; 2 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; extended family includes Carolyn Tyler of Tulsa, OK, Alex Tyler of Tulsa, OK, Cassaundra Mitchell of Tulsa, OK; and the mother of his grandchildren Teri Smith of Tulsa, OK. He also leaves behind to mourn numerous friends and loved ones.
A visitation will be held from 9 AM – 5 PM, on Saturday, December 5th, 2020 at Heath-Griffith Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Monday, December 7th, 2020 at Springdale Baptist Church.
