Dorothy Lorraine Berendt was born December 20, 1957 Torrance, California the daughter of Bobby Gene and Lorraine Marie (Schwenk) Myers. She passed from this life on Thursday, November 29, 2018 in Tulsa at the age of 60 years, 11 months, and 9 days.

Dorothy graduated from Pacific High School in California. She married Carl Joseph Berendt on December 5, 2004 and he preceded her in death on December 5, 2015. She lived in the Grand Lake area before moving to Tulsa 3 years ago. Dorothy’s grandson was the love of her life but she also loved spending time with the rest of her family and close friends and enjoyed helping the women at The Haven where she was a house mom.

Her survivors include her daughter, Carly Christian and husband, Jeremy of Coweta; sons, Joshua and Justin Rodriguez, both of Washington; step-daughters, Christine Rantissi and husband, Mohammad of Illinois and Rita Schleff and husband, Jeffrey of Ardmore; step-son, Carl Berendt, Jr. of California; her parents, Bob and Lori Myers of Arizona; sister, Kathy Cummins and husband, Joe of Arizona; brother, Steven Myers and wife, Lea of Oregon; and grandson, Eli Joseph Christian of Coweta.

A Celebration of Life will be held 5pm Friday, December 7, 2018 at Unity Center of Tulsa, 1830 S Boston Ave. with Chaplain Ken Bachelor officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Heath-Griffith Funeral Home and an online guestbook is available by visiting

    I'm going to miss Dorothy. She was a bright star, so energetic and full of love for those around her. I admire her work ethic and positivity. She was inspirational in her battle with cancer. We should all aspire to be like Dorothy.
