Raymond Arthur Hayes was born Thursday, May 5, 1921 in Florence, Arizona the son of Ray and Grace (Postoak) Hayes. He passed from this life on Thursday, March 28, 2019 in Tulsa at the age of 97 years, 10 months and 23 days. Raymond graduated from Berryhill High School and was a retired Senior Sewage Plant Manager for the City of Tulsa. He was a United States Coast Guard veteran and served during World War II. Raymond was a member of New Home Freewill Baptist Church and mowed the church property until well into his eighties. He enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors. On December 24, 1946 he married Mary Elizabeth Rippetoe. She preceded him in death in 1978 after 32 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by both parents; 3 sisters and daughter in law, Lisa Hayes. His survivors include daughter, Shari Koetter and husband, Jimmy of Bixby; son, Mikael Hayes of Berryhill; grandchildren, Joshua Reiners and wife, Kimberly of TX, Aimee Gabriel and husband, Tyson of AZ, Lance Lancaster and wife, Brenda of Okmulgee and Tracie Lancaster of Broken Arrow; 10 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation for Raymond is scheduled for 8am-8pm on Tuesday, April 2nd and Wednesday, April 3rd. A funeral service will be held 10am, Thursday, April 4, 2019 at the New Home Free Will Baptist Church, 3110 S. 65th W. Ave., Tulsa with Reverend Roy Dale Smith and Reverend Leonard Pirtle officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow. I feel like Ray was part of our family, as he was my Dad's (Bill Pierce) childhood friend from elementary school and they grew up/joined US Coast Guard together, and came back to Berryhill after the war. They remained friends into their 90's when my Dad passed in 2015. They were great pals and fishing buddies.
You are a devoted and loving daughter, which sustained Ray for many years.
