I served in the Army.

Kirby William Lee Hogue Jr. was born December 21, 1928 in Tulsa the son of Kirby William Lee and Velma Marie (Penrod) Hogue. He passed from this life on Monday, November 27, 2017 in Tulsa at the age of 88.

Kirby graduated from Webster High School in 1947 where he played football and later received an Associates in Arts degree from Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa. In 1950 he married Betty Hallford and from this union two daughters were born. He was inducted into the United States Army on March 23, 1951 where he served during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged in 1953 he joined the Tulsa Police Force and retired as a Sergeant in 1983 after 30 years of service.

Kirby’s passion was sports, especially baseball which he played, coached and officiated for nearly 50 years. He served as Assistant and State Commissioner of American Legion Baseball for 20 years and was inducted into the Oklahoma Officials Hall of Fame in 2005.

Kirby was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and American Legion Post #1. He was of the Christian faith.

His survivors include his wife of 8 years, Rebecca (Morrow) Hogue of Tulsa; daughters, Cindy Davis and husband, Mike and Pam Patterson and husband, Tim all of Tulsa; brothers, Ray Hogue and wife, Ann of Grapevine, TX and Vernon Hogue and wife, Sandy of Skiatook; sisters, Shirley Clevenger and husband, Dennis of Midwest City and Jackie Heim and husband, Louis of Tulsa; brother-in-law, Bert Gage of Skiatook; grandchildren, Clay Davis and wife, Kim of Tahlequah, Heath Davis and wife, Kendi of Edmond, Jennifer Davis of Tulsa, Drew Davis and wife, Ashley of Tulsa, Trent Patterson and wife, Jennifer of Glenpool, and Paige Martin and husband, Trent of Tulsa; great grandchildren, Mikayla, Venna, Easton, Mara, Faith, Eli, Addie, Kirbi, Tatum and Lane; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by both his parents; and sisters, Margaret Antle and Frances Gage.

Visitation for Kirby is scheduled for 8am-8pm on Friday, December 1st, 9am-8pm on Saturday, December 2nd and 1pm-5pm on Sunday, December 3rd with family present to greet visitors from 3pm-5pm.

A funeral service will be held 11 am, Monday, December 4, 2017 at the Community of Christ Church, 202 West Main, Sperry followed by a graveside service with military honors in Rest Haven Cemetery, Sperry.
